Challenge
One of the main goals of modern medical applications is continuous improvement for clinical diagnostics testing as well as having more accurate and fast responding analysis instruments.
For example, development of a new and innovative pressure sensor type to be integreted, for instance, inside catheters, to allow the direct measurement of pressure inside the human body, avoiding the need to use an additional liquid of transduction; this permits a more precise and accurate measurement against the traditional proceeding. The trend is to develop lower sized catheters for minimizing the patient’s physical stress.
Solution
Due to the latest innovations in microelectronics technology used in medical applications, it was possible to develop a custom micro-machined pressure sensor suitable to be integrated also in a smaller catheter, with following results: -Direct pressure measurement of the urea inside the human bladder, without the need to use an additional intermediate liquid. This method provides a more accurate and precise measurement than traditional catheters.
-Reduced waiting and analysis time for the patient.
-Single use disposable product (with excellent hygiene).
-Cost-effective application that can be used either in public or in private clinics
